Hunter Safety Reminder
September 3rd, 2006 by Administrator
With Labor Day weekend comes the start of several hunting seasons, including deer and pronghorn bow, morning dove, and early goose seasons. And with that comes a reminder for hunters to be aware of their surroundings and be careful. The Game and Fish Department reminds people to follow basic gun safety procedures and wear orange. It`s also recommended that you not hunt in large groups.
“It`s very popular, that`s one of the reasons it opens [for Labor Day]. It allows people to spend a nice long weekend in the field hunting, so the deer bow season opens the Friday before Labor Day every year,” explains Randy Kreil, chief of the wildlife division at the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.
Game wardens say the populations of all the species this season look healthy, and people should have plenty of opportunity to bag the big one.
