The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has set dates for major hunting seasons in 2006 and 2007.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission also increased the bag limit from three to four deer in five deer zones. Hunters will be allowed to kill two legal bucks and two does by modern gun or muzzleloader in deer zones 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17.
Hunters may take up to four does by archery or crossbow in those zones.Arkansas Game and Fish Commission spokesman Keith Stephens said other bag limits will vary according to the zone. He said duck hunting dates will be set later in the year.
Deer, modern gun, zones 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11, Nov. 11-19 and Nov. 23-Dec. 3. Zone 4, Nov. 11-12. Zone 5, Nov. 11-12 and Nov. 18-19. Zones 4A, 5A, 13, 14 and 15 will be Nov. 11-Dec. 10. Zones 9 and 12, Nov. 11-Dec. 17. Zones 16, 16A and 17, Nov. 11-Dec. 28. Statewide Christmas holiday hunt Dec. 26-28. Special Modern Gun Youth Deer Hunt. Nov. 4-5.
Deer, archery, Oct. 1-Feb. 28 statewide. _Deer, muzzleloader Zones 1, 2, 3, 4A, 5A, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15, Oct. 14-22 and Dec. 16-18. Zones 9, 12, 16, 16A and 17, Oct. 14-22 and Dec. 29-31. Zones 4 and 5. Closed.
Bear, archery, zones 1 and 2, Oct. 1-Nov. 30. All other zones closed.
Bear, muzzleloader, zones 1 and 2, Oct. 14-22.
All other zones closed.
Bear, modern gun. Zones 1-2, Nov. 6-30. No quotas. Zone 5. Dec. 9-17. With quotas, meaning that the season will be closed once a certain number of bear are killed. Zone 5A. Dec. 2-17. With quotas. Zones 3, 4, 6, 7 closed.
_Bear, special youth modern gun hunt. Zones 1-2. Nov. 4-5.
Turkey, archery Oct. 1-Feb. 28 statewide.
Turkey , firearms. Turkey zones 2, 3, 6, 7, and 17. Oct. 23-29. All other turkey zones will be closed.
Quail , Nov. 1-Feb. 11 statewide, except on certain wildlife management areas.
Rabbit season will run statewide from Sept. 2-Feb. 28
Squirrel season will run Sept. 9-Feb. 28 and May 12- June 10.
Crow season will run Sept. 2-Feb. 22, Thursdays through Mondays only.
