Archery Program To Benefit From Deer Opener

(AP) Fergus Falls, Minn. The Archery in the Schools Program in Otter Tail County will benefit from the 2005 Governor’s deer hunting opener.

One of the hosts of the opener, the East Otter Tail Chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, said the net proceeds of the event will be used to support the program.

The state Department of Natural Resources oversees the program, which provides federal grant money to schools that want to add archery to their extracurricular activities.

Grant recipients have to provide $1,300 in matching funds.

Schools that would like to be a part of the Archery in the Schools Program should submit an application by Oct. 31. Applications can be downloaded from the DNR Web site.
